The Youth First Café is an opportunity for people who work with youth and families in Washington County to come together to collaborate, network and strengthen individual efforts. The Youth First Cafés were started in 2009 and proved to be a great success. Through the café professionals are able to come together to learn about various programs and resources in the county that support the needs of youth and families. Each meeting highlights a guest speaker or program as well as networking time. This month, Beth Armstrong, with Youth First will be showcasing a new youth and family service directory as part of the Youth First website. Providers will learn how to upload there information and increase their access to the clients they strive to serve.

Often when working with youth, professionals come to a situation that is outside their scope of experience or are not aware of local resources which serve the various needs of youth and families. Through the Youth First Café, one of the goals is to help create a web of support in Washington County for youth, parents and families. A stronger, more aware web of support will enable workers to serve Washington County to the best of their abilities, ensuring that no child falls through the cracks but rather is caught by the web of support and raised up.
