The Washington County Schools will present Terry Hall’s Body Safety program to all students in grades K – 12 on September 27th, 28th & 29th.

Child abuse expert Terry Hall is a retired sergeant with the Indianapolis Police Department who started developing this program in the early 1980s when he was with the child abuse unit of the Indianapolis Police Department.  Today he travels across the state and country on his own time teaching children, parents, and teachers and law enforcement officers how to prevent child sexual abuse.  He has presented this program to over 600,000 people nationwide and is usually booked one year in advance.

The Body Safety Program is designed to teach children how to keep their bodies safe.  It is presented in age appropriate sequence to children from grades K – 12.  This program dispels the myths of molestation and provides parents, teachers and law enforcement officers with indicators of child molestation.

Terry Hall will hold an informational meeting for adults prior to the school presentations.  All parents, teachers and community members are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 26th at the Salem Middle School auditorium.  Mr. Hall will provide an overview of his presentation, as well as afford parents, teachers, and community members an opportunity to ask questions regarding the information that will be presented to the children. Child care and food will be provided.

Parents are encouraged to attend this informational meeting so that they can make an informed decision as to whether their children participate in the Body Safety Program.  Refusal slips will be available at the meeting for those parents who elect not to have their children participate.

Individuals eligible for continuing education credits may receive one hour of continuing education credit for the evening adult program by submitting their agency’s form for Mr. Hall’s signature. Terry Hall is a certified trainer for the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.

“I was nervous about Terry’s presentation the last time and what kind of questions it would cause my child to ask.  The reality is that Terry’s presentation at my child’s school was the perfect opportunity for me to talk with my 2nd grader about a very important issue. We were able to talk and learn from one another without me having to figure out how to awkwardly bring up this topic and potentially scare my child.  I’m so thankful that Terry visits our schools!” -    Washington County Parent
